DOES THE DONKEY HAVE A BROTHER?

 

    Many times when we talk about answered prayer we mention the donkey that spoke to Balaam as an example of the widely different ways that ETERNAL might choose to deliver a message.

 

    This gives me cause to wonder if Ariel Sharon is being used by the CREATOR of the Universe to answer our prayers about Israel. What else would have caused us to look for ways to help Israel – to galvanise the people of ‘the Land’ into dramatic action – to have the worlds’ media turn their biased attention back to the events in Israel – other than the possibility of the Prime Minister of Israel evicting Israelis from the land that they have been promised by ETERNAL?

 

    The Tanakh is unequivocal. ETERNAL promised the land to His people. Not just the miniature State of Israel but a large tract of land from Egypt to the Euphrates River. The land is a blessing for a chosen people. Not better than other people – but chosen to have this responsibility, of occupying the land ETERNAL gave them.

 

   The action that Ariel Sharon proposes, of evicting Israelis from their land [notwithstanding the fact that he encouraged them to build and settle there], is so unreasonable as to be considered ridiculous. It is surely a clear sign from ETERNAL that the government of His land can no longer be left to politicians.

 

    The people of Israel have made the mistake previously of wanting to be like other countries. Samuel warned them, when they wanted to have a king of their own, that by rejecting ETERNAL who was [and is] their king, they were open to every kind of punishment, which was to include losing ‘the Land’. [Samuel 1, chapter 12]

 

    We see the effects of Israel attempting to appease America. Being asked to give up the land, allow for a mythical ‘palestinian’ state, giving up arms sales to countries that America does not like, while watching America supply state-of-the-art military equipment to Arab countries which have publicly stated they want to liquidate Israel. Israel, when obedient to ETERNAL, is the most powerful nation on earth! Why do you think the Islamists, who have temporary control of Temple Mount, are so paranoid about not letting Israelis pray on the mountain? Even they, know that the answered prayers of the Israelis will be the end of any claim they try to forge for Jerusalem as a ‘palestinian’ capital.

 

    Israel is unique – but it will only be by the people actively seeking to serve their CREATOR – that this uniqueness will be recognised and demonstrated. This is a people of potential who have lost their sense of direction. When we look at some of the most evil of terrorist events over the past few years we see events such as the bombing of the crowd outside the Dolphinarium Disco [why would Israelis be waiting outside a disco during Shabbat?], the hotel bombing during a Passover celebration [should we be paying people to work on a ‘sabbath’?]. We have seen bombing in markets after the sale of pork was legalised. This is not to condone terrorism. We are a people who celebrate and honour life, that is why our enemies choose the most diabolical of responses – the suicide bomber. This is to say, become obedient to Torah, your life and your example to the rest of the world, is too important to be left to politicians.

 

    Your obedience, your courage and your dependence on ETERNAL are what is required now. Forget the false promises of politicians, forget the way it is in other countries, the CREATOR of the Universe has called you to His land ‘at such a time as this.’ Allow us the privilege of praying with [and for] you. Please also pray for us that we will gain understanding, commitment and courage.

 

    ETERNAL has the solution to this situation – He waits only for enough of us to become obedient to put His plan into effect. It will be amazing!
