Dear All,
Jewish Agency head Salai Meridor has sounded a dire warning for world Jewry: "The Jewish people will lose another six million Jews over the next 50 years as a result of assimilation," he announced at a special press conference last week. He said that the more pessimistic evaluations speak of 12 million lost Jews, and that, "in the 21st century, the Jewish People will decide whether their numbers in 2050 will be 12 million or 18 million." He and other experts called for extra help for families who wish to raise more than two children, and for action to strengthen Jewish identity.
Meridor announced the Agency's new demographic initiative that will report the real-time Jewish demographic situation anywhere in the world. The program will concentrate at first on the Jewish communities in the U.S., Israel, Russia, and Argentina. There are currently 13,300,000 Jews, of whom 5.5 million are in Israel. If the current trends continue, it was reported, Israel will house the majority of the world's Jews by the year 2030. Current studies show that 80% of Jewish men and 70% of Jewish women marry non-Jews, and that only ¼ of the world's Jews receive Jewish education.
The above seems very bleak, very bleak indeed, but help is at hand. There is only one human force that can put a holt to this trend and in time reverse it. That human force is the World Karaite Movement! By our very nature, the World Karaite Movement is the only Jewish movement around the entire globe that declares the "Word of YHWH". Only by following the Tora in its true path can the tide of assimilation be held back from washing away great hosts of the Jewish People. It is not enough just to acknowledge these facts nor is it enough just to take them to heart, action is needed! Not next year, not sometime in the near future, but now this very moment!
This is the work that Hakham Nehemia and me have undertaken to do. The burdens of such a task are crushing! The weight of this burden is breaking my back it is shattering my bones and I cry out to YHWH every day to send me help. This is something not to be taken lightly, this is a matter of saving human life's by the millions, and this is a divine calling! We cannot carry this burden by ourselves the weight of it is just too much. We need help and we need it fast.
Redemption through the Tora is not the redemption of the individual, but the redemption of a nation and that nation is Yisrael, and through the redemption of Yisrael will come the redemption of all humanity. It is not enough just to sit there and sigh, "When will the redemption come?" Nor is it enough to get down on one's hands and knees with their face towards the ground and plea for the redemption. Action is need, if we do our part YHWH will deem us worthy.
When we entered the Land of Kena'an after the wanderings in the wilderness to make it our own by the command of YHWH, YHWH did not send a great fire down from heaven to consume the Kena'an nor did the ground open and swallow them up. It was the armies of Yisrael led Yohoshuwa' (Joshua) who conquered the Land, and YHWH went before them. If we do our part YHWH will do his. If we do not do our part, then I dread to think of what the consequences will be!
It is written in 1 Kings 19:9-13;
"And he came there to a cave, and lodged there; and, behold, the word of YHWH came to him, and he said to him, What are you doing here, Eliyyahu? And he said, I have been very zealous for YHWH God of hosts; for the people of Yisrael have forsaken your covenant, thrown down your altars, and killed your prophets with the sword; and I am the only one left; and they seek my life, to take it away. And he said, Go out, and stand upon the mount before YHWH. And, behold, YHWH passed by, and a great and strong wind tore the mountains, and broke in pieces the rocks before YHWH; but YHWH was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake; but YHWH was not in the earthquake; And after the earthquake a fire; but YHWH was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice. And it was so, when Eliyahu heard it that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entrance of the cave."
I have heard that "still small voice" and I now stand at the entrance of the cave. Will you too listen for that "still small voice" and stand shoulder to shoulder with me at the entrance of the cave. YHWH is calling us for a mighty task, a mightier task than you can ever dream of. Will you too heed his call?
May Yihweh be with you.
